Teeth Cleaning & Dental Exams in Huntington Park

Regular cleanings and exams are the foundation of a healthy smile. We catch small problems early — before they become painful or expensive.

What to expect at your cleaning

At Huntington Park Dental Clinic, every cleaning appointment includes a comprehensive exam by Dr. Adelpour, a professional cleaning by our hygiene team, and a review of any findings in plain language — so you leave knowing exactly what's going on with your teeth and gums.

We use digital X-rays when needed, which expose you to significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays and allow us to detect cavities, bone changes, and other issues that can't be seen with the naked eye.

  • Comprehensive oral exam — teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissue
  • Digital X-rays (lower radiation, sharper images)
  • Professional scaling to remove plaque and tartar buildup
  • Polishing to remove surface stains
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Personalized home-care guidance

How often do I need a cleaning?

Most patients benefit from a cleaning every 6 months. If you have a history of gum disease or are more prone to tartar buildup, we may recommend more frequent visits — typically every 3–4 months.

Do you accept Denti-Cal for cleanings?

Yes. We accept Denti-Cal and are actively welcoming new Denti-Cal patients for exams and cleanings. Call us at (323) 319-5676 to schedule.

Will my insurance cover it?

Most PPO dental plans cover preventive cleanings and exams at 100%. We'll verify your benefits before your appointment and explain exactly what's covered.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

How long does a cleaning take?
A standard cleaning and exam appointment takes about 45–60 minutes. If it's your first visit or if X-rays are needed, plan for 60–75 minutes.
Does a teeth cleaning hurt?
For most patients, a professional cleaning is comfortable. If you have sensitive gums or significant buildup, there may be minor sensitivity during the scaling process. Let us know if you're uncomfortable at any point.
Do you clean kids' teeth?
We see teens and adults at our clinic. For younger children, we recommend a pediatric dental specialist.
How do I know if I need a deep cleaning vs. a regular cleaning?
During your exam, Dr. Adelpour will measure the depth of your gum pockets. If pockets are deeper than 4mm and there is bone loss or infection present, a deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) may be recommended instead of a standard cleaning.
